Re: Combined multi-language support pack?

Interface language and posts language don't have to be the same. On our forum people often use English to be widely understood but can understand an interface in their native language better. We've also added a "Translate" button that eases understanding of others' post - see https://www.phpbb.com/c...

Re: Combined multi-language support pack?

Not everybody but perhaps more webmaster than you'd think would be happy to easily setup all languages at once rather than having to always find the right packages. The webmasters who don't have the space could always simply remove unneeded languages from the package. The multi-language package shou...

Re: phpBB.com Website Feedback

When I click a link to a reply in a post on the site and prompted to login, the redirection doesn't work well and I always get "The requested topic does not exist." even though it does exist and if I click the original link in the email (now being logged in), I'll be shown the correct topic. As this...

Supporting multilingual forums

While phpBB offers language packs, it doesn't seem to relate to the option of forum users using different languages in the same post. We did a hack with Google translate (for v3.0.x) that simply adds a "Translate" button. Our website is offered in 62 languages and when the user switches to another l...

Re: Filter language pack by versions

When one goes to the language packs page, all packages are shown, even if not compatible with current phpBB version. Adding a simple filter there so we'd know what's good for our version would provide a better overall look of the packages. Thanks Indeed, I can see the problem here and agree that it...

Re: Optimization: allowing a different path for static resources

I wouldn't call it that as the other server may not be a CDN and many use CDNs without changing links but by changing their DNS records. I think a "Path for static files" should be good or simply allowing a full path in the images directory (and additionally CSS/JS directories) rather than a relativ...

Combined multi-language support pack?

How about creating a single package that will include ALL TRANSLATIONS available rather than making webmasters download each language pack separately? This would make it so much easier to upgrade.

Re: Serve phpBB static resources from a different server?

I've added the extension request here: viewtopic.php?f=496&t=2270436#p13779931
Would still be great if there was an easy hack for it ;)

Optimization: allowing a different path for static resources

Static resources (images/CSS/JS) are currently served from the same server where phpBB resides. The problems it creates: * Extra load on the app server that could be moved to another server. * Cookie info is sent on every request and it surely not needed. The extension should enable providing paths ...

Re: Serve phpBB static resources from a different server?

Thanks. Is there any simple hack around it that won't involve modifying the code in too many places?

Re: Serve phpBB static resources from a different server?

Sorry but this doesn't resolve the issue I've raised. There are many static resource (all image files and the specific js/css of the specific forum) which will likely not be loaded from any CDN. Also, I don't necessarily want to be blindly bound to a specific CDN. I'll be more elaborate. Say my foru...

Translating 3.1.x and using existing 3.0.12 translations?

This forum is currently empty so probably a good post would include answers to the obvious questions: * How to translate to other languages? * How about importing from 3.0.x translations? * Have there been significant improvements that would easily allow multi-language forums? So far, we had to alwa...

Serve phpBB static resources from a different server?

phpBB has many static resources and serving them from a different server than the dynamic forum's server could mean a notable performance increase. We can set expires headers far into the future and possibly utilize a CDN in the future. Is there a quick way to indicate changes to static resources wi...

Re: Moderator cannot move topic - forums list appears empty

It's not a MOD but my own code hack to integrate phpBB with the website. The problem is not happening anymore now and while I don't know what caused it, I suspect it was some file permission issue. Is anyone knowledgeable in phpBB code hypothesize as to what might create such a situation? I would ha...
