Here is the link to the mod discussed above to notify on all posts (I had the name wrong) and it was easy to add: http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=201228 I recently changed from the mod to notify only on new topics created to the one above to notify on all posts. Some spammers figured out ...

I totally agree that guest posting should not be allowed if spam is an issue. However, even with user authentication turned on and on the latest 2.0.21, I still get many spam messages each day, so I'm looking forward to the Approval Group Mod. Will be interesting, may be able to allow Guest posting ...

Seems like every board with an issue with spam and an interest in protecting users from it will want this mod. I know that it may be hard to install, but definitely worth considering. Also, a bundled install with the current phpBB might be worth paying for. phpBB should definitely have this mod stan...

Thanks - the Approval Mod is very close and the Approval Group mod may be what we need: http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=444640 Seems like every board with an issue with spam and an interest in protecting users from it will want this mod. Says 85% done - can't wait, but know that sometimes...

Fighting Spam and bad posts with trusted members

We have been discussing how to reduce forum spam for years. Our methods may improve, but spam finds it way though. Sometimes the offending posts are not even spam, but just in appropriate. How do we know if a new member can be trusted with a post? Really the only way to know for sure is to review th...

I'm using a mod that does not list members with new posts Does not make sense to me either. What I should have said, is that I have a mod that does not list members without any posts. Could have been a slip. I would also like a mod that does not make posts from new members visible until the post ap...

I'm using a mod that does not list members with new posts and now it is time to delete members without posts to clean up the database. What is the best way to bulk delete all members without posts without throwing any counts off? Thanks. ==== I see that I mis-spoke. I have a mod that does not list m...

What you would have is a "guilty until proven innocent" Depending on the nature of the board, sometimes this is exactly what we need. Not banning, but a situation where posts have to be approved by administrators or moderators until we label the participant as trusted. On some boards it i...

he biggest problem (as I see it) associated with the spammers is that phpbb inserts into its VISIBLE database the details of a registrant applicant BEFORE the applicant is authorised. I agree that the practice is unwise, but isn't it pretty much standard now to do the not list the members with 0 po...

Are they posting? If no, just do the mod to not show users without posts in the memberlist or as newestmember.

Had me excited there for a while FlashChat does not seem to do audio. LavChat is interesting and works for some. I've had problems with every Flash audio conference software that I've used, getting it to recognize my settings. Perhaps I'll try again .... let's see if I use my headset mic and default...

Thanks for pointing out the Aprove Mod - it does look like it is addresses the approve posting issue. May be beyond my ability and sad that such a badly needed mod is not being maintained. Perhaps the 50 pages of discussion is an indication of the level of interest. The Freeze Posts mod also looks i...

I am with you guys. I would love to have a feature like that in my board. I use to only need to check my board once a week, now I have to do it several times a day. Aproval of the post for new member would be an excellent idea There are a few mods that are in this direction, but they seemed fairly ...
