Re: Rename forum folder and keep links working

We are still in need of a graceful solution for external links, those that visitors are using from a post elsewhere on the net. You mentioned that you have renamed your htaccess.txt file to something else. It previously contained some stuff like RewriteRules specific to Joomla. So I take it that yo...

Re: Rename forum folder and keep links working

Thank you for your response, Stoepsel.

I can't tell from the code what it will accomplish. Could you give me a bit of an explanation? Sorry, but I am taking baby steps here.

Re: Rename forum folder and keep links working

That is correct. I am sorry...my mind took a left hand turn. My bad. Our forum ends with a .org so we would just use that. As I understand the directions so far, this solution solves the issue of internal links. We are still in need of a graceful solution for external links, those that visitors are ...

Re: Rename forum folder and keep links working

Thank you, Steve.

Does this coding also apply to web links that use .org or other? Or do these have to be referenced individually?

Re: Time(zone) Below Avatar/ in Profile

Success! Working perfectly on my test forum in:
Prosilver
Subsilver2
Blue Moon

Really didn't have to do anything extra with Blue Moon. For some reason, it was just resistant to change. I left the test forum, came back later and it was working. LOL!

Re: Time(zone) Below Avatar/ in Profile

It works just perfectly in both Prosilver and subsilver2. No problem installing it in either one of them. Thank you for this great little MOD. I am having trouble in Blue Moon which is based on subsilver2. This is our default style. If I can't get it going in Blue Moon, I won't be able to use it. Is...

Re: Time(zone) Below Avatar/ in Profile

The Prosilver code is working perfectly for me in my test forum. Will be testing the subsilver code later on and see what happens. So far I couldn't be happier! Edit: Had a hard time finding the first code. On my test board, when I found it, it was at line 1056 (yours may be "around/about" that line...

Re: Rename forum folder and keep links working

stevemaury wrote:The interior links are easy. This SQL will do it:

Code: Select all

UPDATE phpbb_posts SET post_text = REPLACE (post_text, 'yourdomain&#46com/phpbb3', 'yourdomain&#46com/forum');
Could you explain what "&#46com" represents in the above code?

Re: Rename forum folder and keep links working

I'm baaaaack! Having given up on this issue way back "when", we have decided to pursue it once again. This time, however, we are no longer using Joomla. We have renamed our htaccess.txt file with no apparent ill effect to the forum - so far. Currently what we are doing is using index.html to redirec...

Re: Post number in viewtopic

I am considering adding this to our board but before I start trying to wrap my head around the instructions I have to ask if this is working in 3.0.6? I saw a post saying it was working but the main MOD post only says 3.0.5.

Re: Backup and use on clean test forum

I understand that. What I want to be able to do is to create a new forum and be able to use the backup of the current forum on it. I can move the backup file to the new forum with ftp. Did this some time ago and it worked. Now it doesn't. Don't know if we are forgetting a step or if there is a new t...

Backup and use on clean test forum

Using 3.0.6. We did this in the past and it worked but now it doesn't. We have our main forum that we wanted to back up and then create a new test forum using the backup from the main forum (on same host). We created the new forum and couldn't get the backup from the main to work in it. We had put t...
