Hi, again.

@Freestyle XL: I certainly could do that. But it would probably be more work than reinstalling the MODs from scratch :?

@ImTheMan: Thanks for the link. Maybe I can use it and if not, I already got a few ideas from reading the code :)

Thank to both,

Thanks for your answer.

The problem is that I already have data in those tables. If I drop them (before importing) I'll lose the changes made by some of the MODs. And if I don't, wouldn't that also result in a mess?

Import part of the database in MODded forum?

Hello, all. I've installed a fresh 2.0.17 (new url, new database), restored a month-old database of my original forum (which is still running) and added a couple dozen MODs, some of them altering the database. Now I'd like to update the new ("fresh") forum's database with the users, posts, private m...

Re: Once again, some help needed locate some stuff...

Removing that "you can/can't" block is easy. Just search for S_AUTH_LIST in your templates. To move something from one place to another I'd start by changing border="0" to border="1" in the HTML tables of your template, to understand the layout. To change the user information you better check some s...

Hi, again. you seems to have good knowledge about this. would it be possible if i send you an email and get more info from you? I have not much more "knowledge" than what I already told you :) but feel free to e-mail me. The username is the same as here and the domain is in my signature. BTW, have y...

Hi again.

Well, if it's for a limited list of words you can always use the censored wordlist in the admin panel (I'm not sure of the name because I use phpBB in Spanish).

For a lot of words I think that would be overkill.

Don't go and simply ask. You have to "sell them" your site. Web statistics, visitor profiles, frequency of updates, alternative way of promotion ... are some of the reasons you can use to make them see your site as a way to reach their clients. A forum like phpBB usually helps as a way to contact mo...

 Sorry to increase the confusion level but I'm doing it the other way around: I'm heavily MODding a standard phpBB and once finished, I'll start with the style. I'm doing it this way because I'm using EasyMOD and then it's easier to make all the MODs work correctly (it doesn't help my board lan...

Hi, to avoid users seeing something you don't want to see, you have to edit your templates. You can even show the posts differently for guest, registered, mods and admin users. Normally IPs can only be seen by mods and admins. If you want to NOT have the IPs in the database, you can either edit the ...

Re: Wikipedia (mediawiki) / phpBB integration

Hi,

do you mean you want to do with

Code: Select all

[[whatever]]
what you usually do in phpBB with

Code: Select all

whatever
?

If so, you can do that with a simple call to the preg_replace function when showing the post.

Hello, there. what would l need to do/change? I'm far from an expert on regular expressions but I had to learn about them recently: [(http|ftp|https|ftps)://  This means one of those four protocols: http, ftp, https OR ftps, followed by :// [^ \?&=\#\"\n\r\t<]* This means an undetermi...

Hello, there.

Look for forumrow in templates\subSilver\index_body.tpl. And you don't even need a GIF

Noddegamra, that's also the reason why I have a copy of my forum running over my WinXP: to test these things before they go to the "live" one.

Mmmm. Do you have access to the database? For example with phpMyAdmin. The poster is a number called poster_id in the *_posts table. A guest post has this value equal to -1. I guess you can change it to the number of the user you want to assign the post to. Does anybody know of any secondary effect ...

Hello there. I did something similar for my forum. It's about SatTV in Spain and each user picks the package they're subscribed to. I just followed the How to add a new field to profile tutorial, except that in the changes to profile_add_body.tpl I made an image appear. In your case you'd need the a...
