Great. And like Pelican said, you can set forums to permissions Private and then assign specific groups to access those permissions.

Keeping in mind, you can mix and match the permissions to make a fit for what you are looking for.

Ok, let's try this one!

Go to Forum-Permissions on the Admin Panel.

Set the permissions for the particular forum to the minimum access you are wanting for the particular ability.

Understand? I hope I explained it ok.

Why do you need to split it?

If you are trying to restore a DB using mysql, you can use mysqldump -p databasename < filename.sql

Works great for me. Of course this assumes you have command line capabilities.

Are you looking for the text?

Look in language/lang_english/lang_main.php

Otherwise, that text will change once logged in. It will tell you that you have no messages or tell how many you have.

Closer?

You can find the Cookie settings about halfway down the Configuration page on the Admin Panel.

Might I suggest buying a domain name and signing up for DNS service from a place like Mydomain.com

Else, I don't think you will be able to get this to work because of the everchanging IP address. :(

The outbox is a holding place. Messages stay there until the user reads the message. If you delete the message from there, they will never get it.

It doesn't work quite the same as a regular email program.

You are describing the exact same problem one of my users was having on my site. Only ONE user.

I made a few cookie setting changes and !Bam! it worked. In fact, I just gave the instructions to another person about 10 minutes ago. They are now working too.

Look for Obtain number of new private messages in includes/page_header.php

I think this is the section you are looking for.
