The GZIP Compression compresses the data that is sent from the server to the browser. Saves on used bandwidth. It does not compress any files on the server or in the database. I am using it with out any problems with either the subSilver theme or my own custom theme.

I did a search for arkwebs. They are the website host, correct? If I am correct, you might ask them to change the default page search order. They probably have .php before .html in the DirectoryIndex argument. I am also assuming they are running Apache since they are using index.html as their defaul...

I concur with A_Jelly_Doughnut. I would have to say that the sa user was not created. The mysqld-nt command is the mySQL server. The mysql command is the commandline interface to the mySQL server. With no login to your mySQL server, I would say that you have to reinstall mySQL. If that user wasn't c...

Try to connect with the following command.
mysql -u sa -p

This should work even without a specifying a database. If not, then there is more wrong than just the user in the database.

If you can connect this way, then we can get the grant access into the forum database.

Did you create the database? If so, what user where you?

Did you create the sa user? If so, did you grant that user access to the database you created?

Do you know of any other logins for the database? i.e. root

For a tool to administer MySQL, I have been using MySQL Control Center available from MySQL. I have been hearing people here talk about phpMySQLadmin. I haven't looked into this yet. But, from what I have seen (screen shots), it is a web based interface. MySQL Control Center can be found here: http:...

You should be able to put it in the folder as say "index.html" or "index.htm" (if you perfer the windows extention). Your web server should pick up the .html (or .htm) file first.
