Re: PHPBB3 / Dolphin 7.0 Integration Module

Why not try doing the integration through JFusion? You can use more than just api's to integrate any software and would do what your after and even leave less work since they already have phpbb3 plugin. There is the argument of having 2 cms but I mostly use jfusion for its extensions anyway. I bet y...

Re: Does phpbb tick the boxes?...need some advice

Yeh I don't wan to deter you away from trying phpbb with mods for what you want to achieve but your definetly better with a software built for sicial networking. Elgg is a nice free alternative to ning, with just as many features and members and has the features your looking for.

Re: Replacement For Usernames

Well several people on this forum offer to build mods for money, some that are even on the phpBB team. I could probably do it for you and show you examples of my work if you pm me.

You can find other people by looking at there signatures or other forums with freelance request sections.

Single page login

Hi, I havn't had much luck searching so I thought I would ask here. Is there a mod that currently exists that allows you to click on the login form and using javascript without reloading the page show a login box and login with either the entire page been reloaded without the "your login has been su...

Re: Replacement For Usernames

It is possible but you would still need to keep/store it as text for data reasons. The best way to do this I would see to make sure users can access it easy enough is by adding a text to image generator. Basically a mod that after the process of getting a users username executed a script that adds t...

Re: [NORTH OF ENGLAND] phpBB Meetup?

I live in that sort of area but you would need to find out who else is close enough and would be willing to go. I would be prepared if there would be a decent turn out.

Re: Drupal Integration?

It looks like hard to achieve such requirements. It's already complex to create a plugin on an existing framework and API, so, creating it on the base of 2 different APIs is really painful, more particularly for projects as dynamic as Drupal and phpBB are. Yeah looks like it. Also I like to use Civ...

Re: How to tie phpbb authentication into zend framework?

I would assume either building a function yourself primarily utilizing zend code to cut down on the amount you have to write to do basic validation such as is the username is using the right charachters (only letters) fits the min and max length, escape html and sql injection, check if the user exis...

Re: Avoiding DDOS

Just googled this but seems like nice information: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/12/13/prevent-and-stop-dos-or-ddos-attacks-on-web-server-ddos-deflate/ If it is constantly going to be a major problem, I would seriously consider switching to a host which uses a lot more security and incorporates...

Re: phpBB cheatsheets?

Might try but the warning message telling me sources may not be reliable is kinda :? putting me off. I have the source code for some pages when I was trying to install a mod printed out for 3.0.3 I think from a while back but there was no syntax colour highlighting which means it's a lot of sheets o...

phpBB cheatsheets?

I work with a lot of different open source software packages, including phpBB and really want to speed up the time it takes me to complete projects by decorating my room/workspace with tones of cheatsheets, and gathering blank building block files for stuff like plugins and themes. So can anyone rec...

Earn money from developing plugins and themes

I didn't come across any particular post covering this, so thought this might be an interesting topic to discuss. I am now more than ever considering working as a web developer/designer either for a company or for myself. Although I'm experienced, I don't have much of a portfolio and no certificatio...

Re: A question

Well it's possable with a few methods. With images it is most likely that the images are dynamically created with php using either the gd2 or imagick extensions which can create an image from the script url itself, or basically create an image file. As you know php can work with all the technical dy...

Re: Role-playing by post opinions?

With a project like what you mentioned, it is absolutely critical you know how every detail works, and would seriously consider starting from scratch with php, and if you come to the stage where your comfortable you can code without possibily misunderstandingany of your own work look into the depths...
