OK Chez I did have problems, not exactly like yours but it was an error in my coding missed a ; or put one where it shouldn't be. memberlist.php modification: In order to eliminate not yet activated users from the memberlist, in the sql selection at line 145, the original: WHERE user_id <> " . ANONY...

Hi chezybezy.

Do you mean here :

"Our users have posted a total of 60 articles
We have 14 registered users
The newest registered user is Shanti Sena"

sort of thing.

Mine is working fine. Maybe you should check your coding?

Can you undo the mod and see if all is Ok and try again?

Hi Lumpy and Mr. Sharkey I have still gathered 'bots' or spammers or someone just messing. True the last few haven't added a www, so it does make me wonder, but registrations with names like 1f_tyth just get deleted and I am thinking of a solution :) Will get back to you All the best Amoun

Hi phpbbx if you set activatioin to admin, then you will get an email that somone has registered, then you click on the link and it will activate them and send them an email that they have been activated. this will not keep them off the memberlist even if you do not activate them. phpbb puts everyon...

Such things are increasingly more difficult to write and install, and they, too, can be defeated by the most deterimined bot writer. But, to what end? On my board, the most that would happen is that an advertisement would appear on my site for as long as it took a moderator to see it and zap it. It...

You can delete accounts via the User Admin > Managment option in the Admin Control panel

Hi.

I've had a quick look at the mysql14.php, but haven't much of an idea yet.

I don't even know what mysql14 is, that'll need a search.

Will reply if I get anymore.

Hope you've got somewhere since. At least this post will highlight your problem :)

All the best

You must not delete users via phpmyadmin... But, you can install a MOD called Admin Userlist, who displays your users list and allows mass-deletion. It's not direct, but it's much more easy than deleting one-by-one! Hi. margarett As I do delete users via phpmyadmin, will you tell me why you think i...

Just thinking it can be easily bypassed by simple checking. Quite true. But the bots in question never bother checking such things. Their first entry into the system is to do an HTTP POST to profile.php, with all the right variables filled in. Only, once you've made this simple mod, they're no long...

....... 5. It is a simple fix, but I will not post it as a regular MOD, because customization is the key here. The RegBots work by going directly to the submission of the form information, bypassing the various agreement screens by simply setting "agreed=true". Fortunately, web form variables are C...
