Catagory Permissions

Im in the process of doing my forum permissions. What permission to I apply to a 'catagory' that is only being used as a fancy heading. Do I choose: No role assigned? Full Access? No Access? Read only? Does my choice of permission on the parent catagory affect the forums beneath it? The 'Administrat...

Permission Masks

Can someone tell me what 'permission masks' are for?

Also when I click View 'User based permissions' (under permission masks) I have some names which I do not think should be there. How are they deleted from there?

Thanks

Guests on forum

I would like to allow guests to post on one (one only) of our eighteen forums. So how do I allow that? I was thinking of creating a user role called 'guests.' but how do I make all (and any) guests a member of a group? Is there a better way? And BTW are there any good reasons why I should not do thi...

Re: Who is whereabout online?

No, what Im asking is where to find this on my own forum? On version 2 only the Administrator could see it and it used to be in the ACP.

Who is whereabout online?

On phpBB2 the ACP showed whereabouts (on what different forums) online users were. However I cannot find that feature on Olympus.

Can someone tell me where to look?

Re: Nested Quotes Control does not go far enough

I think the problem actually extends beyond just the last post in a thread; rarely, if ever, it is needed to quote an entire post. So I was thinking: ........ I like your idea. It allows greater flexibility than my original idea and serves as a way of training members at the same time. Ill have to ...

Re: Nested Quotes Control does not go far enough

… everyone has got to the point of quoting every time - in case the original poster changes their post. We've had one or two play that stunt. So yes, there is a place for safeguarding against fudging but it is the exception. In many cases members are simply using 'quote' as a defacto 'reply' mechan...

Modify Breadcrumb Bar?

The grey ‘breadcrumb’ bar looks something like this:
  • Board index >> My first Category >> Forum 1
I do not want it to show the category which we only use as a heading (not for active topics)

So can we abbreviate the ‘breadcrumb’ bar to look like this:
  • Board index >> Forum 1

Re: Nested Quotes Control does not go far enough

No, I dont mean the last post not to have the little quote-icon? Just an error message to say, "Sorry, the message you are quoting is already in view. Please choose the reply button instead." Perhaps Im asking for something that cannot be done. Im not a mod writer. But I imagine it could be done usi...

Nested Quotes Control does not go far enough

Olympus has done a good job reducing ‘nested quotes’ when people quote a quote, but I think it needs to go one step further. Some people get 'quote-gun happy' – using it in the place of the ‘reply’ button. This is not so bad if the message they are quoting is several posts back. That is what ‘quote'...

Re: Combine Usernames

Its OK. I found it. Its a moderator permission. Mod clicks the :?: under the post in question and changes the authors name. Maybe an idea for future development. Instead of having to do each post one by one, an administrator should be able to move ALL the posts from one author to anoth...
