Simply php configuration on your server doesn't support the database type that you choose.. Just as the error states… your php3 configuration is not properly configured to work correctly with mySQL. Why are you still running in php3? Upgrade to php4 and you will find an increase of speed and phpBB w...

As Zenith said, leave the "DNS" to "localhost"

the DNS you used was your DNS server, total diffrent. Dont worry about it, just use localhost. It will solve your problems.

phpbb needs some kind of DB, mySQL is most used. Thier is no way around this.

Who is your host BTW?
If you still want to use phpBB you will need to find a new host.

If your looking for a good sugestion on a good host, I think I just might know one

On a single processor machine, a load of 1 is maximum efficient utilization. Loads more than the number of processors mean the machine is too heavily loaded. Any load numbers in the 2 or 3 range is an indication of excessive CPU use and consequently poor performance. Load average numbers should be i...

What step dose it display the errors? what have you done previous to this error?

Being hosted by hostonce.com may be a problem, I do not know how phpbb runs on their servers. But through the grape-vine, I haven’t herd to many good things about them.

I think phpbb would use mySQL_connect not mySQL_pconnect because phpbb has the ability to be used for huge amounts of users, not sence in having the connection always open.. I think it will be borderline. If you are allowed 15 connections, and you have 700 visitors, it really depends when they all a...

That is for the Database part of phpbb
Simply ask your host
What your database server is, (that will solve the first filed)
And through your control panel provided by your host, create a database, username and password.
You don’t need to worry about the prefix.
