Right, I uploaded all of the existing files, and realised that I shouldn't have overwritten config.php, so I then uploaded a copy of the original, with the results that when I clicked on the convert button, I got the error.

Then I don't understand how Topic Extraction could work for you at all :? Because you need to put <?php include('./phpbb3/topic_top.php'); ?> and <?php include('./phpbb3/topic_bottom.php'); ?> in your page and that can't work if the page isn't php. Ok it seems that I fixed it here. I also uploaded the dbal.php file new together with a new db_tools.php file like you told and now the error is gone and Back up is working again. Just updated to the latest release, and found I can't backup.
