I think you should ask them what exactly "serious load problems" means. Get some numbers from them, take a look at your agreement, see what they can and can't do.

Make sure you have read the docs linked in the first post of this topic:

http://area51.phpbb.com/phpBB2/viewtopi ... 82&start=0

They are about use/install of RC-3

did you run update_to_RC3.php?

Make sure that you run that once, and then delete that file (and install.php, and upgrade.php)

In fact, if you want to totally copy a forum, you might as well copy all of the files to begin with, but then delete cofig.php, and put the config.php from the default RC-3 package in, so that it will install correctly.

any files that are important to the forum you are copying must be copied as well. This includes hacks, special or additional templates, avatars, avatar galleries, etc. Anything that is not stored in the DB.

totally new installation. You want the board to first work perfectly as if it were a clean new install of the board, and then run the db restore.

I dunno, I have never had it mess up for me. The things that are important: Make sure you do the "Full Backup" and make sure you check the file you downloaded. It may have had errors in the creation of the file, they should show up in the file if there are any. Install the new board (that you want t...

Okay, for everyone getting the "Headers already sent by somefile.php" error: The most common source of this problem is that there is some white space outside of the <?php and ?> tags. When it says "Headers already sent by somefile.php", open that somefile.php with a plain text editor, and make sure ...

Make sure that your avatars directory exists, and has the correct permissions. I would suggest chmoding the avatars dir to 777, see if it works. If so, keep decreasing the permissions until it doesn't work any more, and then just use the least permissions that will still allow avatars to be uploaded.

Yes, this is possible, but you have make sure that you use different table prefixes for each install, or they will crash into each other.

Looks good. Where is your board? Can we try it out?

One thing that I have noticed on my board is that if you try to upload an image that surpasses the size maximum, it will say it was successful even though it wasn't.
