I read the KB article and the GPL itself and just thought of a question. If you create a modification but only release the actual lines required to implement the modification (not the whole modified file) do you still have to use GPL. Not that I ever would. Do a google search for php template you will find several. I believe the most common is smarty but there are some others too. If I remeber corectly phpbb's ipmlimentaion is based on phplib.

Not sure what this has to do with phpbb exactley but.. phpbb uses a template processor. Basically the way it works is the the php template assigns the template variables and then calls the template proceesor to parse and display the page. Actually the icons included in the download package are considered to be under the GPL license so you can use them as long as you abide to that license.

Its teh SDK which is what lets you change collors etc of them that you cannot use.
