In ACP, Forum settings, change the type of the forum to Link and provide the url to be linked to.

Even easier - ACP, Server settings, Security settings, Allow password reset, No.
Determines whether or not users are able to use the "I forgot my password" link on the login page to recover their account. If you use an external authentication mechanism you may wish to disable this feature.

What VSE said is that Mediaembed and ABBC3 both do media embedding. Vanilla phpBB does not.

How long is a string? The only experience we have with large forums is phpbb.com/community. It has 500,000 users and 4 million posts. We do not use Redis. Without testing, which would require administrative access to boards of the size you refer to, your question cannot be answered. And in any event...

Things change. There is really no need for the Auto update package (which is what I assume you mean by "patch") unless you have edited core files.

To force a site to use the non www you need to create .htacess rule for it. When the user requests page with WWW they will be redirected to non WWW page, you should also be redirecting http to https. There is plenty of examples on how to do this if you google it.
