Looks like there is a typo in the bbcode.tpl

it has

Code: Select all

<!-- BEGIN acr_close --></acr><!-- END acr_close -->
when it should be

Code: Select all

<!-- BEGIN acr_close --></acronym><!-- END acr_close -->

Reference/Thesaurus

I've been searching high and low for a simple reference/thesaurus mod. what I'd like people to be able to do is define for a word or phrase in their posting a definition for that word which is displayed when they move their mouse over the word. For example if they put : [ref=A very popular web forum...

Updates

I just downloaded the latest update. One quick question - why do you insist on copying all the fonts over each time? I've had several people complain that some of the fonts are actually just about unreadable and I've removed them from my fonts folder.. just to have the next update put them back again.

I was looking at my server logs this morning and I noticed that a lot of the registration urls that fail (because they are using mode=register etc.) actually have faked referrer URLs so they look as it they have come from my index page.

In a way I can understand the original posters point - I got to the point of being registered on about 50 boards and it got to much to remember signons etc. To that end a centralised sign on/authorisation (like Yahoo do across their sites and Microsoft implemented with Passport) which then allows yo...

Re: WHY??????

Google rankings. Precisely - which is why doing things like removing the "who is on line" from the index and the membership list from the menu for guest users makes sense... anything that reduces the chance of spammers URLS being picked up by search engines makes sense. Also other tweaks ...

I know that there are mods out there to change the Agree and COPRA names and values on the registration line but I couldn't find one to replace the mode=register part of the url. So I've put one together - it allows you to specify (via the control panel) a different word to use instead of register. ...

Its odd that the save works fine (I've looked at the entry in the phpbb_config table) - its when it gets reloaded back into the config screen that it then gets removed. Looking at the generated page I found the line looks like this: <td class="row2"><input class="post" type="...

Is there anyway of using the local server (i.e. the server the board is running on) to provide the information - it seems a bit silly to have to go out to an external website to basically do a whois when the server has whois on it

Email address format

I'd like emails sent from my forum to have properly formatted from fields.. ie. From: "Board Admin" <admin@my.domain.here> I can enter that into the field on the general configuration and it works (leaving a stray " /> on the page)... until I change any other configuration item and sa...

Captcha Code

I was doing some work on a board for a friend and I couldn't get the new captcha code to work... so I started digging round. The reason is wouldn't work is that his site was running PHP 4.2.2 and the captcha code uses gd_info() as a check to see if GD is installed... gd_info() was only introduced at...

MySQL 4 and Apache.

I actually think I might have found it - the CodeCrush IP log does rather a lot of selects without indexes on them.

SQL "problems"

Just been looking through my server stats - is a Handler_read_rnd_next of 470K after 10,511 queries good or bad?

If its bad is there any easy way of trapping the queries and getting explain plans so I can see if there are any obvious index problems?

Thanks
