Well, then... If I remember correctly, it doesn't matter where the file is located... But just put it to the forum main directory and restore the database... and run it through the SSH...
There are many threads that talks about the datbase backup... Do some searching for more information...
Well... The word 'web site' is kinda vague to me, but yes, I think you can install phpBB into any host on the web that meets minimum requirements for the phpBB...
Hm... That probably have been an early Halloween ghost, I presume... :D Glad you got it sorted out... ;) As for the backup... This is what I do... I have a SSH, so I use TAR to make a GZ file... I also make a copy of the forum directory to the directory one level up of the current forum directory......
