Re: Ignore a topic

i'd love an extension that lets users hide topics that they're not interested in. the main place to hide them would be in view active topics / view unread topics. for my use case, it's not about friends and foes. no need to hide topics posted by a user. it's just to hide topics that people don't car...

Re: Remove 'reason for deletion' from delete post pop-up

i feel like my last several posts have been pretty repetitive. maybe i should make a guide or something. 1. with this extension https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=456&t=2275361 2. hook overall_footer_body_after 3. with this code: {% if SCRIPT_NAME == 'posting' %} <script> jQuery(fun...

those are called html entities. i didn't need to use them in the browser console when i tested, but i guess they're needed elsewhere.

Re: Changing copyright verbiage

It was actually easier to edit the core language file. But on the other hand. I use an extension called Insert Template Code or something like that and I wonder if I could use that in some way so that when it comes time to edit I don't have to edit so much core code. I already edit at least three f...

Re: phpBB; Major Version Release

yes, which additional features do you feel you're in need of?

also, out of curiosity, has anyone seen a migration done from xenforo to something else? i'm guessing that, for example, going from phpBB to xenforo is much easier than going from xenforo to phpBB.

i hear you. if i knew off the top of my head how to do it and that it would for sure work, i'd just directly answer your question. but since i don't.. instead, i'll encourage you to put that energy towards solutions that let you conveniently restore locally (or elsewhere in the event of a failure). ...

Re: [3.2][RC] Auto db Backup

nice looking extension. some info i think would be helpful to include in the OP: which db types are supported? what is the underlying backup mechanism? does it just hook the built-in phpBB backup/restore functionality? can backups be restored without using phpBB at all? if not, is there a suggested ...

Re: Transferring live site structure to local host copy

I'm setting up a phpBB test site on local, and I want to duplicate the basic structure of the live site. great idea, but why don't you want to reproduce the other data? a suggestion if i may: use this as an opportunity to test your automatic backups. restore them to your local environment so you kn...

is that an actual backup policy you recommend? it sounds like a pretty bad one to me. what if you need to recover from an event that happened more than a few hours ago?

Re: Your forum past, present and future

i started a forum a couple years ago. i enjoy watching it grow and have no plans to step away. however, when i'm no longer able or willing to maintain it, it's up to the community to step up. maybe another member of my site would be willing to be the new sysadmin, or maybe the members would donate m...
