Re: blocking spam

It makes far more sense to include all of the ABM blacklists (disabled) and have the admin enable the preferred lists than to only have akismet and not be able to use more if we want. We've clearly shown that aksimet, alone, is not enough. If you're still afraid of the occasional false-positive the...

Re: blocking spam

You are missing the point. The stats clearly show no one blocklist is adequate. Nor is one type of spam prevention these days. The stats show that when only a few boards send data, no one blocklist is adequate. I imagine that if I started a blocklist for Wordpress and not many blogs used it, it wou...

Re: blocking spam

Obviously SFS blocks more, it has more users submitting phpBB data. That argument really isn't valid.

Re: blocking spam

Open source = less secure ? Like phpBB ? :) Security != spam. phpBB is secure. phpBB has a spam problem. phpBB is open sourced. Again, your point isn't actually helping you at all. In fact, my question was, at 1st, why is this thread downvoted. Because the majority of people do not like this idea. ...

Re: blocking spam

And you claim yourself "website team member" ? lol lol Some things to know : akismet is from Automattic : closed source, need registration (so can sell your data). Project Honeypot is open source and no registration needed. What? Why would it being open source be better? It's a spam blocker, not a ...

Re: blocking spam

You mean the sympathy "me too" votes? You are entitled to your own obviously. Funnily enough though there has been a similar mod with _just_ Akismet functionality (only one of the block list filters in ABM) which doesn't get voted away or trolled. Ironically enough the "experts" seem to love that k...

Re: Multiquote!

Does it work with JS turned off? This is driving me crazy. Why would anyone disable JS. How many people visiting phpBB has disabled JS. And what if user has disabled images. Or what if he is using browser without CSS support. So lets build pages looking like from 1995 because somebody might still u...

Re: Install a forum or board, on to your webpage.

There isn't really a generic solution, but it can certainly be made a lot easier to achieve - right now it is quite tricky to do.

Re: Install a forum or board, on to your webpage.

API improvements would certainly make it a lot easier. Thread created on creation of webpage (ideally just by calling a function), and then the replies to the thread displayed on the webpage using just a function call (phpbb_get_topic() would be nice).

Re: blocking spam

If a feature requires people to contact the developers to get help with optimisation, it is a bad feature.
