Re: Are Facebook, VK and other social nets killing your forums?

2 major factors would be 1 - you have to be logged in to view facebook groups (i don't think i've seen any that you don't) 2 - if you wanted to look for a topic Well, in a BBS you can use formattings way better than elsewhere, such as a list. Would i sound daft if i asked what a BBS is? I think fac...

Re: Are Facebook, VK and other social nets killing your forums?

I know of a few forums that went from 30+ posters a day to about 5/10 due to members opting for Facebook groups, These days most people are using mobiles and a lot of forums aren't responsive or properly configured, styles have come a long way though and forums that i've seen configured to look good...

These look great :) - thanks for sharing.

You should consider uploading them to the customisations database - https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/ , where they'll be properly hosted and others will be able to download them :)
Thanks Christian, have just uploaded via the link you provided :)

Dark Style Topic Icons

As i spent a while editing and creating icons that stood out with it, i thought they might be of use to someone else, The backgrounds are transparent so they will only stand out on dark background...

Re: A Way Test URL Rewriting?

The top of my .htaccess now reads: <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTPS} !=on ...

A Way Test URL Rewriting?

Is there a way to test URL rewriting? I notice in my ACP i have this message: We are unable to determine whether or not this server supports URL rewriting. This setting may be enabled but if URL rewriting is not available, paths generated by this board (such as for use in links) may be broken. Conta...

Re: SSL not working on my newly setup forum

I had the same problem yesterday and as Sakm says it needs to be redirected, I was able to do it following the info that 3Di had posted: Forget any suggested change above posted. In your .htaccess file (YOUR_FORUM_ROOT/.htaccess) after the first 2 lines <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine on ADD,...

1) use notepad++ on Windows or Geany on Linux https://notepad-plus-plus.org/ 2) You have to force it in htaccess See https://www.siteground.com/kb/how-to-force-ssl-with-htaccess/ Thank you :-) Fixed it using this solution: Forget any suggested change above posted. Re: Help With Installation

Thanks Elias, i've now got the phpBB files installed.

When i was reading a guide for installing the software, it said i would be asked to change "chmod permissions" but it installed and i didn't see any mention of those permissions, is that normal ?
