converting phpbb 2.0.17 to phpbb 2.0.23

Post by ozymandias Llewellyn » Sat Jun 21, 2008 9:17 pm

I am totally clueless as to how to do this. ive tryed everything i can think of and i cannot figure out how to fix what the boards are telling me to do which is this:

Your installation does not seem to be up to date. Updates are available for your version of phpBB, please visit http://www.phpbb.com/downloads.php to obtain the latest version.
The latest available version is phpBB 2.0.23.You are running phpBB 2.0.17.

Also, im having 2 problems. The smilies are not working and i cant figure out how to set the boards to deny newly registered users untill i confirm them through my email.

No. I'm asking if you have MODifications installed or if it's just standard files.

Can you post a link to the board?

You can save yourself a lot of bother.

You're using a free forum host.
You almost certainly don't have access to the server files so you couldn't update it yourself even if you wanted to. You will have to ask your hosts to do it. However, 2.0.17 is about 3-4 years old so it doesn't look like they're too bothered about doing it. That puts your site at risk of hacking and there isn't much you can do about it if they don't update.

As your board looks brand new, to be honest, I'd go somewhere else. If you want to stay with free hosting, find one that is at least up to date (2.0.23).
