clio,
If it is at any help, the subsilver may come in the beta 2. It will be the default style in the final version. :D

I'm running my test board off of the CVS... but of course with the modifications to make it work... d-:
Erm, this is sorta irrelevant, since I ripped apart the CSS, but subSilver worked fine for me...

Definately agree with the fact the CSS stuff should all go into a .css file and each page links to it. If it was linked, the CSS will get cached, and save 8k per page load.

Ditto with all the javascript, which is another 5k or so. A nice little .js file. :)

The only thing with using a linked CSS is the crapness of NS4.x. It doesn't resolve the URI's of images correctly when the CSS is in a different directory to the page..... :(

if you put the CSS in a separate file then you can't use the colours defined in the database within the CSS as it won't get parsed by the template engine. You can of course just hardcode the colour settings in the CSS file.

Also, if you put the CSS in a separate file then you will be using more bandwidth as it won't be GZIP'd (if your server supports GZIP compression).

*looks at file size in IE6 by viewing page props.... 7k*

The saved file was of just the HTML was 46k.... okay, point take. But if peoples server allow gzipping, they should enable it with there respective httpd anyway.

But as ever, one can alway hack the template. :)

where do i download this skin?

gzip rocks! I have installed it on two servers. After that I have won 4 Gigs on the first and 12 Gigs on the second server ;)
