subSilver SDK

Post by ashben »

The PSD file doesn't open in Photoshop 5.5. Message says:
Could not open the document because there are too many layers for this version of Photoshop

Maybe the admin or Tom (subBlue) can repackage the SDK with a 5.5 version as well. That will be great!

It looks, in glancing at it, as if it uses features introduced in 6.0... so I'm not sure it could be ported to 5.5 and still work the way you'd want it to work. You might be better off doing some from scratch.

(It's not too hard. I'm going that route, anyway. :)

It is intended for use in photoshop 6 as it uses the layer effects introduced with v6.

Unfortunate ... it'd save the server some work if that fact was posted. Us 5.5 users would not have dl'ed the SDK.
We should talk less, and say more.

The problem is that when I try to save all the slices in Image Ready some of them don't save themselves as the name of the images while one or two are missing [one of the cellpic's, I think].

What is the problem? Is that the SDK for an RC?

Could anyone clarify me on the above mentioned issue?

Thanks.

It would be wise to make the SDK available both in the PSD and a GIMP image format. Since phpBB is GPL and I think it should therefore also support other GPL software, such as the GIMP.

Entirely up to Tom, personally I don't subscribe to this "You're GPL so you should support GPL everywhere else" :) If a GPL'd application offers the appropriate capability, great, if not then that's the way it is.

At least it could be distributed as a set of PNGs. Since Photoshop costs $1,400 for a single license it's hardly possible for mere mortals to open that file "legally".

Uh, $1,400? What dumb founded magazine have you been reading? Photoshop 6.0 was $999. Photoshop 7.0 is even less than that.

Lucky for me, the SDK opens fine in Photoshop 7.0 as well.

Um, I don't have a problem with saving the slices. Those that don't have a name don't get used and end up with a file name like 'phpBB2 subSilver SDK_##' (where ## is the slice number). Anything that is used has a name specified in the slice properties.
