Email Script Problem

Post by CubanCorona »

Everything is working fine, except the emailing. For example, if I request a lost password I get this error:

Failed sending email ::

DEBUG MODE

SQL Error : Error

Line : 225
File : c:\inetpub\wwwroot\forums\includes\emailer.php

I'm running Windows 2000 AS and using an Access database. I tried pointing phpBB to my SMTP server, but that gives the following error:

Ran into problems sending Mail. Response: 550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for <email address>

DEBUG MODE

SQL Error : Error

Line : 40

The SMTP server is on the same machine, it allows anonymous acccess from localhost, and the domain that I am sending the emails from is on the server.

Help!

Anyone had that error before?

Is the SMTP server an open relay? Try that for a few seconds only.

This is your personal server, right?

I've got the exact same problem! Same errors, but with a hosting company using a unix, and MYSQL db.

Can anyone help? The funny thing is....it does send my mail out-just says "Failed sending email" so you think it's not sending.....cause that's what is say, but it really does! :?

Interesting. I've also responded in another thread - I've got exactly the reverse problem - it says the mail went out with no error, but the mail never goes out, so the user never gets a new password.

I think I'd rather have the error and have the new password go out.

Any ideas here on this new problem? (Thanks in advance for any help.)
