new user type

Post by jorrebor »

Hi there,

i need to be able to create an extra user type, besides the standaard moderators admin and normal user. This new type, must only be able to read and cannot make any modifications. Also important is that the user with this type is able to send PM to the moderator. thats all he needs to do....

Is there anyway of defining new user types? i'm running phpBB 2.0 but willing to upgrade to 3 if needed.

thanks in advance!!

You can do that with usergroups.
In Forum Permissions, set each of your forums to Private
then in Groups Pemissions assign Read only, or Posting and Reply to each usergroup as appropriate.
