first time installation, config permissions

Post by laoli »

When I try to view the install.php form, it comes up as text, with no form. The install says to "Change the permissions on config.php to be writeable by all " but my config.php file is totally blank.

How do I do this? How can I get this installed.

No, i dont think you need to download anything, but did u upload the forum in Binary mode? if so, try uploading just the install.php file once more, and test it again.

What's your hoster?
You could try the following:

Code: Select all

<?php
phpinfo()
?>
Open notepad, copy&paste the above stated code, save as phpinfo.txt. Upload the file (in ASCII) to your webserver, rename it with your ftp program to phpinfo.php / .php3 / .php4 / .phtml and point your browser to the file. You should see an overview of your php setup. If none of these file extensions is working, php is not enabled/available on the server.

find a host here or here or here or here or here

Trying to host it on my earthlink webspace. I guess they don't support phpbb. I'll try one of the other hosts and let you know how it goes.

Thanks :D
