Yes, that's true !!

Oh don't worry, just say something bad about the support team and they'll response immediately, they even have time to remove the post where I simply asked them to decide, either they're gonna support this product or not, just tell us so we don't wait for nothing. Amazingly how they find time for (unimportant) things yet it takes ages to reply to their customers. And the only thing they can say is "it's hosting problem". Right, all our websites must be coded wrong then since there are about 150 websites per server all running flawlessly. If they're such l33t coders, they should learn how to report errors....a user must NEVER get any "debug" or "error on line X" messages...they're using output buffering, so removing error reports to users would take them less than an hour.

I've already changed a forum on one site to invisionboard, since support team is too lazy to reply. I guess I'll have to install IB to other sites too...sooner or later. I know this doesn't help solving a problem, but this ignorance from the support team is really annoying.

I think that I am closer to fixing it than they are.
I have everything working except for mass e-mail.

You can remove the DEBUG display. Such a method for disabling that has already been presented in this thread.

No the real problem is that the last update from the developers is on page 3 of this topic and is posted on june 26! And that is simply disrespectful from the developers that they do not post progress updates more often. It only takes 1 minute to post an update.

golden words
The problem is not that it takes time to fix the issue. I am sure most if not all users understand that finding, fixing and testing will take some time.

well, they know the result of the bug, that means that they need to look trou only few files... and when they find it, it would be a matter of hours when its fixed...

Hi,

For you. :) The main problem is that there are so many mail server configurations out there that it is very difficult to determine the correct handling method. And there are so many badly configured email servers...

Anyway, i want you to listen (reading?) to me very carefully now. :)

The following archives are for testing purposes, the files included are for those using phpBB 2.0.5 and do not have applied Mods to the includes/emailer.php, includes/smtp.php and includes/usercp_register.php files.
Additionally make sure your hoster allows mailings. Some people moaning here are unable to send mails (through PHP), because the mail command is disabled.

Ok, i want valuable feedback, this is the only thing i am asking, valuable feedback.
The ones of you using these files, please apply them and if you are willing to share drop me a little PM with the following questions answered:

1) With 2.0.4, does the emailer worked for you?
1a) If not, does sending registeration emails worked?

2) With 2.0.5, before replacing the files, which sections did not work (except the mass emailer ;)).

3) With 2.0.5, and replaced the files, does it work now?
3a) If yes, you are finished.

4) If the answer to 3) is NO...
4a) What method are you using (PHP or SMTP), within the error message you see which one was used.
4b) Please only give me the error message if SMTP was used.
4c) Are you on a *NIX Server or a Windows based Server?

All PM's regarding support/general requests will be deleted, this is an exception. :)

Ok, the file locations:
phpbb_emailer_test2.zip
phpbb_emailer_test2.tar.gz

I want to add that we try our best to resolve these problems.

EDIT: replaced the old test files with the new ones.

;) This fix works fine on Lycos (fr)
Acyd Burn wrote: 1) With 2.0.4, does the emailer worked for you?

Yes
Acyd Burn wrote: 2) With 2.0.5, before replacing the files, which sections did not work (except the mass emailer ;)).

The Mail() function and the smtp function (but the outside connections are deactivated by Lycos)
Acyd Burn wrote: 3) With 2.0.5, and replaced the files, does it work now?

seems works 100% (registration, mail..)
Acyd Burn wrote: 3a) If yes, you are finished.

:)

Edition: groupcp validation: mail is not sent with the same previous error ;)

The registartion process (with and without Account Activation) and post notifications.
Acyd Burn wrote: 3) With 2.0.5, and replaced the files, does it work now?

YES, everything works besides the mass emailer (I'm not sure if your files were intended to fix the mass emailer).

THANX!!!! After 12 pages of threads, it is a relief to find a solution... :D

Ask and ye shall receive.

I never had the problem, but I certainly feel the pain of all of you with this problem, as I've had my own.

My suggestion to you all..

Keep in mind this is FREE. How many FREE things offer FREE support these days? What do you expect for FREE?

Rather than judge, or gripe, be proactive and patient while those that code the files make the changes in a manner that WILL work, not that MIGHT work. This requires testing, and patience. :)

Great job team, keep it up.

Thanks again!!! :D :D :D

Will here come any further productive,
am on free lycos as well and getting error message 246 on emailer.php
First i got 113 in smtp.php, that was because i tried to connect to an
SMTP, but it needs authentification, so it was not possible. I tried the
localhost then, so am stuck where many are. Can it be, that i dont
have an email there? Finally phpKIT is working on the same lycos
- i have to ask how the mailer's settings are. I just dont know if there
is any email i can access, i just switched to localhost.
And in line 246 there is only a code about if-it-worked-or-not you
cant say more about if you dont know the lang. At the top of the page
there stands "lass emailer ?>" (damn that looks like an broken php-file).

Any productive suggestions?
