2.0.4 to 2.0.6 without losing dbase?

Post by EdMeister »

Hi,

I'm currently using phpBB 2.0.4 on my website and would like to change it to the latest version. What's the proper way to do this? Can I just copy the new files over the older ones or do I have to use the install-form again? I really don't wanna lose the database-information.
Thx for any advice!

Check out the changed files only on the download page if you have no modifications.

If you do check out the patch file
Ho Ho Ho merry christmas

Once you've uploaded the changed files or used the patch, the update_to_206 script will sort out the database for you. You shouldn't lose anything.

Having said that though, it is adviseable to back up your existing source files and database before upgrading.
