First off, no, this is a stock phpbb installation.

I'm not quite sure why, but that's where mySQL is storing it's data. It hasn't caused any problems, so I've just left it alone. I have a person I'm hosting running Ikonboard with mySQL as well, he hasn't run into a problem yet.

When I try that query manually, here's what I get:

ERROR 1: Can't create/write to file '/root/tmp/#sql5f3_11d_0.MYI' (Errorcode: 13)

I discovered why it can't write to that file. That's because /root/tmp is not where the mySQL data is stored. So the question would now be, why is mySQL tyring to write to a file there when everything else is in another directory?

For redhat linux 7.2, the DB directory is usually

/var/lib/mysql

Yeah, that's where mine is. Now does anyone know why it's trying to write outside the directory where all the data is stored?

Fix - MySQL server configuration error

Post by breuer »

http://www.mysql.com/doc/en/Cannot_create.html

Just add a line in your my.cnf file for MySQL following the instructions. Most systems have this set to /tmp

Also, if you need the config file youre looking for is usually /etc/my.cnf

:D
