Post by daph »

I converted my files from nuke to phpbb. now no one can register.
the site is www.habbofan.ch/forum
after clicking agree to being over 13, etc. it says:"
Sorry, but this username has already been taken."
eventhough i haven't even entered a username.
no one can register and thats not good.

it's quite easy actually.
in phpmyadmin choose the table for users, php_users.
then browse. as the first user you should see anonymous.
click edit next to anonymous. and then set user id to -1.
:)
same as when you set the site admin, except you edit a different field.

didn't work for me

Post by papyrus »

I had no user named: anonymous

just those people that are registered.

i'm in need of another solution. there's got to be another way other than working straight through the database.

HELP :!:

signed,
not anonymous

you must have a user callled anonymous.
what happens if you log out? can you not access the site anymore?
if you can still access it, than you have a user called anynomous. if you don't than i'd make one. the only way i know is through the database.
otherwise you can try and make a user called anonymous in the config menu, but you still must set the id to -1 in the database.

How, exactly, do you get to the list of users?
Er... yeah.

in phpmy admin.

i think the table is called phpbb_users

there you can choose for ex to list the member names alphabetically by clicking on it on top. then look for anonymous. that should be -1.

The Other Guy & Papyrus ...

You have to go to your site's control panel ... go into your "MySQL Account Maintenance" area ... at the bottom you'll see a "phpMyAdmin" link ... on the left of that screen you'll see a drop down menu ... click your main bulletin board file ... then choose the "phpbb_users" file ... click the "browse" tab at the top ... then follow daph's instuctions above ...

I had to change an earlier test user I had on the board to anonymous, then I set the user id to -1 ... and it worked right away ...

Good luck! 8)
