Simply upload the file onto your webspace (more specifically the phpBB folder) via your FTP client, and then go to the URL where you placed it in Internet Explorer.

We don't know what the answer is, but you sure can find it out by opening config.php into the text editor... The answer should be coming from there... :)

Thanks for doug's database fix utility... It did a great job for me... :D

But if the problem is not a database that is broken?

The database has been repaired several times, with no other result but "OK". And the forum still does not work.

I am no expert, but if that's the case, I'd try to install another copy of phpBB on the local computer and restore the database from the currently running forum... See if there is any corrupted data in there by examining the threads very carefully and make sure you got the right data as much as you can get from the corrupted database...
Install another copy of the phpBB on the server after backing up the files and restore the database to the live forum...
