Login troubles on our site

Post by wellsheit »

our site is www.uahunderground.com

all of our members, including myself, will have to log in 2 or more times before they will actually be logged in. if you use the "keep me signed in" it will keep you signed in, but you have to log in at least 2 times as i said. for me this isn't a problem, but being dedicated to a college, many of our members end up using public computers and cant use the "keep me logged in" function. sorry if this is a repost of a common problem. I just got a few more complaints so i went ahead and posted. thanks for the help.... if its not an easy fix please be detailed on how to correct this. thanks a ton.

Sometimes you get this problem if the cookie in your admin panel -> configuration if it is set to the default phpbb2sql or something similar. Change your cookie setting to be something more unique, and it might fix it. This was the solution for a similar situation I had a long time ago.

I have the same problem. Just to try something different I checked Cookie secure | enabled. Now I can't login. Can I change this setting back to disabled via the the database? What table? Session? Thanks.

I'm having this trouble too. I took the above advice and now I can't log in at all. :(

If I can't log in as administrator, how do I set things differently?

@ yoyoboy

Did you make the necessary motifications to the cookie domain and path respectively to where your forum is located?

@ wellsheit
It depents for each browser.

For IE: (Open IE) > Tools > Internet Options
1) Click "Clear History"
2) Click "Clear Cookies"
3) Click "Clear Files"

Usually, with other browsers, you can clear the settings through the main options menu or alike.

AdamR,

Oops, I forgot to put the actual domain. But should the path actually say "/forum/" or should it reflect something in the location of the forum??

Thanks.
