This was discussed somewhere, maybe in a post above :p that the pagination algorithms for some reason or another do not decrement. The Group is working on a snippet to go through and fix everything.

This seems to be another issue independent of the delete issue in 2.0.0. Fresh installs of 2.0.1 are not consistently incrementing it seems.

That's correct SamG. Not sure if anyone has had time to look at my bug report, but I've explained at length this same phenomenon. It is definitely in regards to incrementing that the problem is occcurring. Thanks for making that distinction.

Bug report:

I'm having the same problem. Is there a manual fix for this, somehow? My replies number on selected forums isn't in sync with the actual number of replies, therefore the post listing doesn't show a link for 'page 2' to show the latest posts.

Is there any way to get the number displayed to correctly correspond to the number of actual replies?

I saw a link to a small script somewhere else that did a 'hard sync,' but that link is broken now.

Thanks!

No change in the status of the bug report, so far as I can see. And no fix that I'm aware of.

To do a manual adjust of post counts, maybe this thread will be helpful ...
http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=21150
or is this the thread you were were talking about, with a broken link?

hi, I just installed the actual phpBB 2.01 a couple of days ago. The Problem described above seems to be exactly one of those I got with my installation.
But it is not reproducable on different topics - looks more like it appears randomly in some topics. Since there are very few replies in this forum (alive since two days) I recogniced this problem bevor phpBB made a pagination or had de decrement topics due to deletion.

There are no changes ore mods applied to the installed version.

thanks al lot for any hint

Or you can post a reply to the affected topic and then split it off which fixed my problem.

I've only had it happen on 1 thread thus far *knocks on wood*

Good Luck

It still doesn't look like there's been any activity on the bug report. Anyone had a chance to look at this yet?

Hmm this will work? it look VERY short for me .. and it mean that in phpBB already exist rutine to do this sync('all topics');
?? it look very strange there is no way to call it manually .. eventualy to add buttom to some template in admin section....

As i have to send it to my HOST and until they execute it is a day is this all that i need to do to fix forum at last a bit?

Code: Select all

<?php
define('IN_PHPBB', true);
$phpbb_root_path = './';
include($phpbb_root_path . 'extension.inc');
include($phpbb_root_path . 'common.'.$phpEx);
include($phpbb_root_path . 'includes/functions_admin.'.$phpEx);

print "Starting all topics sync...<br />";
flush();
sync('all topics');
print "Done";
?>

No, you need to back up a bit. R45 posted a bit of code on page 1 and a link on page 2. The bit Matthijs posted is for something else, I think. I'd suggest just reading through the thread a bit to make sure R45's process is what you're looking for.

Thanks Sam i forwarded lin to all this thread to HOST admin so i hope they will take a look and find what is problem. I tested it on my server and i don't have this problems but a.) i have only 20 users and 2000 messages b.) i have other combination of Apache + Mysql +Php version then server :-( and i think after reading this all that problem lie somwere in direction of how last version of PHP is executing some update database commands.

I think that we nailed a problem of script time out sometimes, it look like it is related to email routine if in thread exist people who are subscribed to receive messages or if a private message is send (most people have option to get notification on private messages), problem exist in our board so much as we converted a old board to new one and in conversion process install routine add to all old users activation both email notification for threads and private messages, as many people never looked at profile and changed it this mean 80%+ of 17.000 our users have by default option to get notification of all posts.

Probably a email routine get overloaded in some situation and is creating a problems and timeout of script that in consequence never finish and never update number of replies, last posted, user posts and other things.

It will be big help to fix UPGRADE script so that it don't set email notification by default and also to check if anything can be done to email routine to not stack too much emails all at once as this look to be main problem, this can depend probably only in some combinations of mail program software "sendmail ??" and Php version ?? I'm not sure but I hope this at last give idea where to look about this problem !!
