MS Access and DSN-less connections

Post by tanis » Mon Aug 30, 2004 3:06 pm

I already tried searching this board but with no success.. for the first time I have to install phpBB with an MS Access database (I know this is bad, but I cannot do anything else at the moment).

I saw that a few people have been able to do that by creating a DSN and passing it as the database name during installation.

My problem is that I cannot create a DSN on that host since I do not have complete access to the box. I have to do it with a DSN-less connection but till now all my tries have failed.
Is there anybody who could point me in the right direction?

I have the same problem. I found that connecting to Access database from php is possible by:

$db = realpath("d:/www/inlognaam.ext/database/*.mdb");
$dbc = new COM('ADODB.Connection');
@$dbc->Open("DRIVER={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};DBQ=$db");

However phpBB seems not to support it....
