[Solved] Hacker!

Post by Falco1199 » Thu Jun 06, 2002 9:14 pm

Someone's obviously messing around with my forum... 2 people were banned, topics were locked, and my rank name was changed. I had a hacker on a previous Proboard forum, and this one is doing the same things; I'm wondering if there's any way he could be hacking on to my computer. Does anyone have a clue what I can do?

What version are you running? Have you installed any mods? You are running the forum on your own machine?

I'm running 2.0.0, I can't change that.
I haven't installed any mods.
I'm not running it from my own machine.
My server is members.lycos.co.uk; I have no clue if it's Linux/Windows. I can't change that at the moment. Lycos UK is the only free server I know of w/ MySQL.
My password is over 10 letters with mixed numbers and letters and no words.
...Is the host free? :?

Any suggestions?
:-D

You should upgrade to 2.0.1. Not only does it fix a couple of bugs, it also fixes some security issues. It is strongly recommended to upgrade!
Why can't you upgrade?

2.0.1 doesn't work on Lycos servers. You get this error: "Can't Query Forum Information" when you go to the index; no forums. Unfortunate. That said......

sure it is ;)... But if it is a hacker, close the forums for a while and look at peeps profiles to see if they say anything about hacking (like under intrest and occupation...)

lmao!

the above idea is lame :P

you could always change your admin password, then install the 'show rank mod" which will diplay a users rank in the memberlist....see if anyone made themself a admin! As i know if i 'hacked' a board...i'd make myself the admin! :P

Do you use your password on other public forums? Some, such as T-Forum and early versions of Ikonboard, allow the admins to see the user passwords, letting them do a little password matching...

I can still login in to the admin page...

OK Big update:

A few days ago, someone was banned from the forum. Today, this person is the moderator of every forum. A few days before being banned and then modded, he asked me to be a Security Admin. It seems he knows a lot about hacking and web coding. I banned him, but he's still there.

WHAT NOW?!?
