Center forum on page

Post by iraszl » Sat Oct 02, 2004 2:23 pm

I'd like to center the content of my forum on the page rather than have it left aligned. Also, I want to make it fixed width, instead of rescaleable.

To put it simply I want the layout of my forum to be the same as the layout of my blog.

Can you please help me how should I go about it?

Thanks a million! :D

I'm not sure about the exact style syntax, but this can most likely be changed in /templates/your_template/overall_header.tpl and finding a line that looks similar to this:

Code: Select all

<table width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="10" border="0" align="center">
It's the first TABLE tag below the BODY. Just change the width to something less than 100%. Looking at your blog, I gustimate this is around 65-70%. Fiddle around with it until it until it matches your blog. :)

If you want to make this a fixed width, eliminate the %, and enter the width in pixels.

Hi,

Yes the overall_header.tpl file is the file to work on, as AdamR says.
Also, make sure to edit.change the very first instance of this as it is the only one you need to change.

Hope this helps,

I managed to center it and make it fixed width, but I can't find where to put a background image like on the blog.

This would be the code for the background, but I don't know where to put it:

Code: Select all

body {
  background: #333 url(http://iraszl.brinkster.net/creativebits/images/back_strip.gif) repeat-y center top;
}

In the overall_header template

Code: Select all

body {
	background-color: {T_BODY_BGCOLOR};
	scrollbar-face-color: {T_TR_COLOR2};
	scrollbar-highlight-color: {T_TD_COLOR2};
	scrollbar-shadow-color: {T_TR_COLOR2};
	scrollbar-3dlight-color: {T_TR_COLOR3};
	scrollbar-arrow-color:  {T_BODY_LINK};
	scrollbar-track-color: {T_TR_COLOR1};
	scrollbar-darkshadow-color: {T_TH_COLOR1};
}

Try Replacing

Code: Select all

body {
   background-color: {T_BODY_BGCOLOR};
   scrollbar-face-color: {T_TR_COLOR2};
   scrollbar-highlight-color: {T_TD_COLOR2};
   scrollbar-shadow-color: {T_TR_COLOR2};
   scrollbar-3dlight-color: {T_TR_COLOR3};
   scrollbar-arrow-color:  {T_BODY_LINK};
   scrollbar-track-color: {T_TR_COLOR1};
   scrollbar-darkshadow-color: {T_TH_COLOR1};
}
With

Code: Select all

body {
background-image: url("http://iraszl.brinkster.net/creativebits/images/back_strip.gif") repeat-y center top;
background-color: {T_BODY_BGCOLOR}
scrollbar-face-color: {T_TR_COLOR2};
scrollbar-highlight-color: {T_TD_COLOR2};
scrollbar-shadow-color: {T_TR_COLOR2};
scrollbar-3dlight-color: {T_TR_COLOR3};
scrollbar-arrow-color: {T_BODY_LINK};
scrollbar-track-color: {T_TR_COLOR1};
scrollbar-darkshadow-color: {T_TH_COLOR1};
}

Thanks so much for your help!

I want to change the lighter grey part, not the inner darker grey part. Can you help me which file should I change?

Thanks!
