Obviously it's some problem with your database. Unfortunately, it's impossible for us to determine the exact problem just from that error page. It would help if you could post what version of phpBB you're running, what type and version of database your using and what type and version of server software (Apache, Microsoft IIS, etc). Any background info that led up to the problem would help, too.

It's one of the tables in your phpBB database. If you changed the Table Prefix setting during the install of phpBB then it will be named "<your prefix>config"

If you merely want to get use of your forum back in phpMyAdmin browse the phpBB_config table (where 'phpBB' is your table prefix), edit the row 'default_style' and set the value to 1.

create a new row:

INSERT INTO `<your config table name>` VALUES ('default_style', '1');

Okey, i've done this. But I can understand how that can fix my problem.

this just keeps showing up when I try to enter my forum:

phpBB : Critical Error

Could not query database for theme info

SQL Error : 1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax near '' at line 3

what about the users? do they get removed if I do that?

OK, so the logical thing to do here would be to backup all of your tables except for the config, theme and theme_name. Then do a clean re-install of phpBB. Afterwards, import all of your saved tables, overwritting the current ones. This will leave you with all of youe existing user/post/etc data but give you clean config and theme tables. Just make sure that you reinstall the same version of phpBB that you have installed now. Otherwise, your saved tables may not be in the proper format.

In phpMyAdmin, select your current phpBB database. Click the export tab. In the "Export" multi-select list, select all of the tables except for the user, themes and themes_name tables. Make sure the options to export both the SQL and the data are checked. Under SQL, make sure the "add drop table" option is checked. Under Data, make sure "complete inserts" is checked. Check "Save As File" and select "gzipped" for the compression. Then click Go. Save your file whem prompted to do so.

Now remove phpBB by dropping all of the existing tables and deleting all of your files, then reinstall from scratch (just follow the directions in the install file). Make sure that your table prefix remains the same durring setup.

Now, once you've got your new board up and running, go back to phpMyAdmin. Select your new DB and click the SQL table. Use the browse button to find the file you saved in the first step and click Go. Your old data should overwrite the new data.

I would HIGHLY recommend that you back up all of your files prior to this. And you may want to make a second backup of the current database (including all of the tables this time) before you start dropping tables. Alsom if you're not familiar with FTP, find someone who is or else you may run into trouble. If your hosting provider set up the forum initially, contact them after you complete the first step and ask them to reinstall phpBB for you.

Good luck and happy turkey (or tofurkey for us vegitarians) day.
