Post by Light Speed » Sun Jan 30, 2005 1:52 am

http://www.lilshecreatures.com/forums/
Template(s) used: Custom
Any and all MODs: None
Do you use a port of phpBB: no
Version of phpBB: 2.0.8
Version of PHP: 4.3.9
Which database server and version: mySQL 4.0.22
Host:
Did someone install this for you/who: me
Is this an upgrade/from what to what:
Is this a conversion/from what to what:
Have you searched for your problem: yes
If so, what terms did you try: Setting From:
State the nature of your problem: See below
Do you have a test account for us: If need be I'll make one

Is emailer.php the file where From: is set for all emails sent by PHPBB?

I wish to hardcode a single From: email address and Reply-To: for the header of all emails sent from the forums.

Would this:

Code: Select all

$from = "someone@mydomain.com";
be the correct code to use? If so where should it go?

First off, You'd be best upgrading to phpBB 2.0.11. With Sanity going around boards under phpBB 2.0.11 are not safe!

Second, it uses your board email. You can set this in the admin panel (Admin -> General Admin - >Configuration), and it can be different form the Administrator email address. Even if the board email dosen't really exist, it'll still send mail from that address (IE the from header dosen't have to be real)

I have manually patched my viewtopic.php file to stop sanity but I will be upgrading soon.

In configuration I only see a place to put the admin email address.

Are you saying that if i change this address that it will not change the contact email for the user who has admin privileges in their profile and it will become the email that the var $from uses?

Yup. Case in point: My board has the email set to no-reply@xxxxxx.geek.nz, while my account (main admin) has the email set to my gmal account
