please explain a little better, what type of counter do you want and where do you want to put it, and does this have anything to do with phpbb

bb meaning bulletin board I guess and not bb meaning bbcode.

anyway, if it is a counter that just uses html, then turn on html for the board add the required html tags in your admin panel and just put it in a post.
if that is not what you want, then I have no idea.
