Hi,

You get blank pages when you get too many results to your search queries.

Try being more specific. Better yet, now you have a topic going - ASK!

Thanks,

there are will over a million posts on this board, you can't even imagine how many words that is, so in order to keep the server (free , donated server ) from crashing everytime somebody searches for phpbb, there has to be some type of system in place to restrict the results.

be more specific, read the instructions on how to use the search, use the search functions that are there, not just default, and like he said, ask your question here.

also, google is your friend.

Sure, I agree... and some sort of output saying "too many results" is a very common way of dealing with this that does not end in bug threads from people reasonably assuming that the search function is broken.

Free, donated, yes, that's fine. I love phpBB and appreciate the commitment of the authors, but this is the sort of thing that needs to be addressed in order to make the software better... which is what the site is about, if I'm not mistaken.

I absolutely agree that the whole search thing could be handled better, it has been suggested that instead of a blank page, it be setup to display some helpful info about how to better use the search. I think that would be a great idea.
I was just saying that the search on this particular site has a lot to think about.
