Login membersection

Post by coverman »

I tried to find answer to this question, but couldn't find a final solution to this problem.

I'm building a member section on my web site.
The users login through a form on a php page with username and password.
When they are logged in they have different choices on a menu and one is the forum.
I don't want them to login again to use the forum, so how do I make this work?

Maybe I can use the login and registration from the forum, but what would I use then to make that work?
Can I use that part as a login instead?

I mean using the registration page from phpbb and then redirect them to my main area for the members?

Please help...

Isnt' there anyone out here who's got a solution to this?
I guess it must pretty common to have a forum inside a member section.

Are you talking about integrating your phpBB with an already existing MySQL database? There's loads of info on this site if that's what you're trying to do. Browse the support section and search the forums.

Hi there.
I was looking in this forum and found some stuff about this, but not any solutions. People seems to come up with different solutions but nothing that really works. Or did I miss that maybe?

What I have is a login page (i want this to be connected to the phpbb table with username and password of course)
Then I want people to be redirected to my own menu after login (instead of ending up in the phpbb main window)
I also need new members to be able to register above the login (if they want to be members)

That's about it what I'm looking for and couldn't find solutions for.
But if someone knows where to find that in this support forum I will be more than happy to get that link or info.

Nice to know that there are people here helping us newbies.

:D

Cant you just modify the login.php program to login via the Forums own authentication and then at the end of the program go to your menu instead of the forum menu?

You will need to save it as something else tho, not login.php.

I have written a login that authnticates to the forum database which then goes to a upload file section.

If you want me to send u a copy of that I can. You do need to change some settings tho as my url and database is different.

this will help you: http://www.phpbb.com/kb/article.php?article_id=143

and use this as login form code:

Code: Select all

<form action="<?echo $phpbb_root_path;?>login.php" method="post">
	<input type="hidden" name="redirect" value="<? echo(append_sid("../yourpage.$phpEx")); ?>">
	<input type="text" name="username">
	<br /><input type="password" name="password">
	<br /><input type="submit" value="login" name="login">
</form>
of course replace "yourpage" with your page .. sounds logical .. good luck ;-)
