BUG: search function

Post by KI »

Hi,

I found an annoying bug in the search function of phpbb.
It is even this forum.

Just go into my profile an click on "Find all posts by KI".
You'll get this message: "
No topics or posts met your search criteria"

I think this is a serious bug!

It happens only if the appropriate user has a very short nickname.

2 letters in a nickname -> BUG
3 letters in a nickname -> works fine

I believe you are correct, I have noticed this, although you should adress your concerns with the Website Team Leader.

Search has been changed.

Now requires At least three letters for a search term.

This is not a bug - if you review the changelog, you will see that this was a deliberate change to the software

a deliberate change can still be a bug, as phpbb team keep on reminding us.

Not only is it not a bug, you can't search for words of two or less letters as the default settings in the code for indexing words from posts is larger than 3, and less than 20 (better expressed as 3 <= x <= 20 ).

The change was deliberate for other reasons, and the phpBB team that you seem to try remind us about, (we are them anyway), say it is not a bug.
