I don't believe so...unless you log into phpmyadmin and look through tables in the database, which is another challenge for someone who has never used it before.

And if it is on a free host like phpbbfree and such, there is no way.

Not possible. Unless you have access to the database itself (as mentionned by The Edge). Also, being a board administrator does not necessarily imply having access to it.

If they don't shut up, warn them, then ban one of them. I bet the rest will stop

There is a simple way to do it but it requires lying and is unethical.
After a few...they'd figure you out also if they consort among each other.

Now why would you post that after an hour, when the problem has long been solved?

PS. This question is rhetorical

I was not aware of this, and to tell you the truth I don't agree with this type of mod being offered in the first place. It's unethical unless it also rename's the private messaging feature to something else.

Also, it does not mention that you can view pm's but rather manage them.

Code: Select all

An admin panel plug-in that allows the management of private messages on your forum. You may sort by a variety of options, delete any PMs you choose or optionally archive them for later use.
I'm not sure about this and I don't have any intentions of trying it out. There's simply no need to delete or archive what my users believe to be private information.

Enough said!

While that is find and dandy, it was THESPINOFF04 that started this thread. Also, all one need do is add to the USER AGREEMENT that everyone agrees to when they Register to include something saying the "Admins of this site reserve the right to investigate misuse of the PM system by use of an administrative PM viewer."

Why would you bother bringing this back after 5 days? (rhetorical question)
