How do i BAN people from posting as a GUEST

Post by peacenluv »

How can I enforce people to post as users instead of as a guest?

I can't track ip addresses on guest posters only users.

I had a guest person place inapporpiate messages and don't know how to ban him b/c he was able to post as a guest.

I searched in my admin section and couldn't find the feature.

thanks for your help

For the permissions on each board set it so you must be registered to post.

Go to the ACP, in the left pane under "Forum Admin" select "Permissions". This will display the "Forum Permissions Control", select a forum in the pull-down list and then specify what you want for each category. Guests are included in the "All" group, so for the post category make sure it's set to "Reg" - registered members, or whatever you want it to be. This is where forum permissions are set.

Hope this helps,
Wolf

Does that mean that you have to set permissions for every single forum or is there a way to set default permission levels for all forums at one time?

Would be nice if you could set a default permission level.

Aside the package being offered with pre-defined forum permissions to begin with, I'm not aware of any "out-of-the-box" options to do this through the ACP. A quick scan of the MOD's database which can be found here: returned this mod which might be what your looking for: Hope this helps,
Wolf

Thanks for that.

Once I'm up and running abd have configured my forum to the way I want it, I'll look into installing that MOD.
