Adding another color to posts

Post by Henderson »

I want to add another color choice to show in the drop down color menu when posting, but I can't get the new name of the new color to show.

I found where the color choices are in posting_body.tpl file and added lime there (our boards are too dark for the usual green). It does work but there's a blank space where the color name should be (Font colour: menu with names). When you select that blank space, it does bring up the lime color coding and posts in lime correctly though.

But how do I get the word "Lime" to show in the drop down menu instead of just a blank space?

I know this is an old post, but it is the exact question that I have.

I can change the code to get the color to work on the board, but a name for the color doesn't show up on the pull down menu, just a blank space.

How do I get the name to appear on the pull down menu?

Thanks!

did you happen to notice all of these in that code:

Code: Select all

{L_COLOR_YELLOW}
that is a language variable and is set first in the posting.php file

and then in the language/lang_english/lang_main.php file.

you have to make additions to both of those files before it will work.

Thank you for the reply Robert.

I have tried your suggestion.
I can edit a name to an exisiting color.
I can't change an exisiting color to a new one, or add a new color.
The color gets added to the list in the drop down menu, but a name still doesn't. Even with both files added/changed

Here is what I have listed for the lang_main.php file:

Code: Select all

$lang['color_darkgrey'] = 'Dark Grey';
Here is what I have for the posting_body.tpl file (in subsilver)

Code: Select all

<option style="color:darkgray; background-color: {T_TD_COLOR1}" value="darkgrey" class="genmed">{L_COLOR_DARKGRAY}</option>
I am not sure why it is not adding the name to the drop down menu still

Any help is appreciated.

In posting.php, you'll find values assigned to the Lang variables, try assigning the value there.

yes, that is what I said in my post. you have to add the variable in posting.php

look for the section that starts with:

Code: Select all

'L_FONT_COLOR' => $lang['Font_color'],
then do like you did with the other additions, use the code there for an example and create yours.

also, keep them in order.

wherever you added the new color in the drop down menu, add it to the same place in the posting.php file, etc.

luck,
robert
