I really like the look of subSilver, but not the colors. It doesn't fit my site at all, which is very dark.

I need a black theme.. and I've seen a few guys change their phpBB2 board to make it look darker.

If anyone knows how, or who has made a nice black/dark color board please let me know the details :)

You're right, there were two. Here are the links:

1) Craft Hold which is not there any longer (They might have moved, try a search).

2) Fierce Honor still there and looks great (not too dark I'm afraid)

Go through every image in the templates folder, and use a program like Photoshop to reduce the brightness, saturation etc.
I use GraphicConverter (for Mac) because it can mass-edit the images' Brightness/Contrast/Saturation etc.
Then just go through the templates and make all the hex values darker.
I havn't tries this, but I'm guessing this is the easies way to do it.

on another note, the CSS (for the forms) for this style don't work on my browser (Internet Explorer) because I don't think the Mac version recognises @import url("templates/subSilver/formIE.css");
Why the acctual code isn't put there is beyond me. :?

Try searching next time, this question has been answered about five times. Run this query:

Code: Select all

UPDATE phpbb_config SET config_value = 1 WHERE config_name = 'default_style';
Then it should work in subSilver, and then go into theme admin and delete the PSO styles, because they are not actually there, only the names are.

If you changed your table prefix, put it in instead of phpbb_ 8)

I love the subsilver theme also, but my site needs to be green and gold (because it's an alumni site, and the school colors are -- green and gold). I'm TERRIBLE at graphic editing or creating - and I'd love to have the subsilver graphics with green instead of the blue. I can handle the color changes for the theme and template -- just not the graphics, and the current ones don't look very good with everything else changed to green.

Probly want to hang on till the final release. The psd files for the graphics will be included with it AFAIK. I think that will make the image real easy to change (the colors at least, I hope). 8)

BUT - I don't use photoshop - AND they won't have the font he used - because, sadly, it's not available (unless you buy it, and I can't do that!)
(see topic about subBlue fonts in beta testing)

Maybe I can figure something out

I bet some of us around here who do have Photoshop will be glad to help when the PSDs are available. As far as the colors go, at any rate.

Perhaps you can find an inexpensive font you do like, or a good alternative you already have ... ?
