Is it possible to install phpBB on a Windows Server?

If so, what would I need and where can I find a tutorial?

Thanks,

MySQL database...

Hello,

I've gone through the tutorial and successfully installed Apache,
PHP and MySQL.

However, in order to install phpBB2, I obviously need a DB.

I'm wondering how you create a database on a Win2k server?

I've installed many forums but they were all done via a hosting
company, which provide a cpanel that gives you access to create
a database.

I'm not sure how to do it locally on this machine.

Thank you,

I suggest you install phpMyAdmin. It will help you in getting everything setup easier, a web based control panel for MYsql basically.

Hi pookieguy,

your DB is MySQL and the phpbb2 installation process will create the needed tables for your forum (within the default schema "phpbb" or whatever you decided to use as a table prefix). Just make sure MySQL is installed properly and available (service is started) and your ready.

The MySQL Admiinistrator is a great tool to manage your database, along with the MySQL Query Browser, among many available tools out there.

Hope this helps,
Wolf

hmm...
I'm confused.

I tried to run the install using "MySQL" as the database name but it fails.
Says access denied as one of the error msgs?

If I open the administrator executable in the bin directory, I see a "test" database in there. ??

Not sure how to proceed?
