Import part of the database in MODded forum?

Hello, all.

I've installed a fresh 2.0.17 (new url, new database), restored a month-old database of my original forum (which is still running) and added a couple dozen MODs, some of them altering the database. Now I'd like to update the new ("fresh") forum's database with the users, posts, private messages, etc. of the old ("original") one. Can I do this importing just some of the tables from the old forum's database? If so, which ones?

Please note that forums, usergroups, banned users and IPs, permissions, ... is already in the new forum, as I started with an old backup and I haven't made any changes in the configuration of the old one since then.

This is the list of tables, with my guess about what to import and what not to import:
auth_access
banlist
categories
config
confirm
disallow
forum_prune
forums
groups

posts
posts_text
privmsgs
privmsgs_text
ranks
search_results
search_wordlist
search_wordmatch

sessions
smilies
themes
themes_name

topics
topics_watch
user_group
users
vote_desc
vote_results
vote_voters

words

Am I wrong with any of them? Is there something I'm not aware of?

Thanks in advance,

Greetings,

You need to import all tables, not only ones that you selected. Items in every table are connected to items in other tables, so importing only few tables will cause a mess.

Thanks for your answer.

The problem is that I already have data in those tables. If I drop them (before importing) I'll lose the changes made by some of the MODs. And if I don't, wouldn't that also result in a mess?

Greetings,

You can apply those change added by mods after importing database.

Hi, again.

@Freestyle XL: I certainly could do that. But it would probably be more work than reinstalling the MODs from scratch :?

@ImTheMan: Thanks for the link. Maybe I can use it and if not, I already got a few ideas from reading the code :)

Thank to both,

Careful when using that script. Make sure you have backups of both parts before trying. It has been known to mess things up quite badly.

Although, this KB article should be of some assistance. http://www.phpbb.com/kb/article.php?article_id=212

Hello again.

@Marshalrusty: Yep. I've been reading carefully the 7-page thread. And I'm also quite paranoid about backups :D

@ScionCrow: Thanks, but in my case it's the same server and I have shell access (so it's just me, not limitations of the system :P). It's more a problem of "transplanting" the public part (users, posts, PMs) of one database to another.

Well, I'm going to give it a first try. Wish me luck!

Cheers,
