I have just moved hosts, and after going around in circles for a few days I have now restored my two forums.

One went though perfectly OK, but the other came up with this error:

phpBB : Critical Error

Error creating new session

DEBUG MODE

SQL Error : 1054 Unknown column 'session_admin' in 'field list'

INSERT INTO phpbb_sessions (session_id, session_user_id, session_start, session_time, session_ip, session_page, session_logged_in, session_admin) VALUES ('36178d7068ecb1813593eea4dd5b1ab4', -1, 1129283302, 1129283302, 'ca3f2931', 0, 0, 0)

Line : 172
File : sessions.php

They a both small forums, the largest being only 2,113k in size.

Any simple ideas for me ?

I think I have just seen the answer in http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.ph ... c&start=15

I'll give that suggestion a try myself.

The info from that other post was:
1) Upload the install folder to the root folder of your forum (the one with the folders 'admin', 'cache', 'db', 'includes', 'language', etc.)
2) Point to the file in your browser. (http://{your_domain}/{root_path}/install/update_to_latest.php)
3) Delete the install folder

However, I don't know what or where the install folder is ?

I assumed I would FTP it, but got stuck not knowing where it is. :?

Download the latest release from this site.. and unzip it update_to_latest.php is in there..

You must have used more up to date files than before so now it is looking for a column which has not been added to the db.. running update_to_latest.php will add that column.

Thanks for that, all up and running again :)

the update result page quoted:

"Database type :: mysql
Previous version :: 2.0.14
Updated version :: 2.0.16"

Umm... you still need to update to 2.0.17. At this point, however, you can download the Changed Files Only package and simply upgrade only a few files.
