[2.0.18] smtp.php error; no verification e-mail sent

Post by hlrsenet »

When you register as a new user, you obviously fill out the form for your username, password, etc. When you continue to the next page (once you click submit), it will give you this error:

Code: Select all

Ran into problems sending Mail. Response: 550 message to verify they are valid."

  DEBUG MODE

  Line : 153
  File : smtp.php
My SMTP information is correct, I guarantee you it. I recieve no verification e-mail either.

Code: Select all

Use SMTP Server for email = Yes
SMTP Server Address = mail.hlrse.net
SMTP Username = -----@hlrse.net
SMTP Password = -----
Wings2Central.com uses this exact (precise) information, and it works perfectly fine when sending verification e-mails. Also [hlrse.net] and [wings2central.com] are both on the same webserver.

Now I've narrowed this down - it cannot be the webserver, it cannot be the server's PHP installation (or MySQL), and the SMTP information is correct.

For PHP info, the server has v4.3.11: http://www.hlrse.net/phpinfo.php

Thanks. Regards,
Qwerty

It's not even near PHP-Nuke. Infact, it's better - e107. More than a thousand times better guaranteed.
since you are so sure that everything you have is correct, then I just don't know what we can do to help you.
I request a refund. Actually it'd just be easier if the developers of phpBB2 became involved with this serious problem.

well, I didn't see anything that said NUKE or e107. I have to agree with you about it being better than NUKE. officially, you will not get support here, without the phpbb copyright in the footer of your board
and, officially, you won't get support for e107 here either .

well, the bottom line is that there is usually no problem with the email system in phpbb, even though you think that all of your settings are correct, I can almost guarantee that your problem is related to either your server settings or the smtp server you are attempting to use is not allowing the emails to go through for some reason.
as far as the developers getting involved, they do come around but this board is all about each of us supporting each other. after all, this is free open source code.
