Backup problems with 2.0.18

Post by njhorn » Mon Nov 14, 2005 3:21 am

Whenever I try to backup the database through the admin panel, the backup file just keeps downloading and never stops (keeps getting bigger and bigger)... The DB (mysql) should be about 55 megs or so... If I ssh in to my host and do a mysqldump of the database it comes to 100 megs!

I've tried running the stopword.php script, which took my DB from 60 megs to 55 megs, but still have this problem...

Any ideas?

Backups are always bigger than the database itself.

But the backup file from 2 days ago was 63 megs on my disk... I had to stop the backup download (through the admin panel) at 174 megs! something is not right :)

Look at the old backup, perhaps it is not complete. Look at the new backup, and see what is in there.

Also I am not sure how the new sessions_keys table affects size, it could be that, although that is a big difference.

Try phpMySQLAutoBackup (http://dwalker.co.uk/forum/). Make sure you use compression. Works like a charm for me.
